Your portfolio presentation is a way for you to reflect on
what you have learned this semester. It should be 7-9 minutes long. Presentations
will take place during class time from Monday, April 23 to Thursday, April 26.You will receive an email with your
grade and comments later on the day you present.
Your portfolio will be a Powerpoint presentation, where you
will do the following:
1.Give at least six main characteristics
of two of the concepts we have discussed in class this semester:
• Ethos
• Pathos
• A
well-supported, clear thesis
• Audience
awareness
• Visual rhetoric
• Language and
tone
• Use of valid
sources
• Integration of
quotations
For your definitions you can draw from your notes and from
class discussions.You can also
use our class textbook and the Purdue OWL. For Compose Design Advocate and the OWL citations, you should use
MLA.Remember to not only define these concepts as they apply to written
work, but also to videos and websites.
2.After defining each concept, you will apply
it to at least two of the texts we discussed this semester (My Antonia, Catfish, Billy Elliot, God Loves, Man Kills and the shorter
texts we read in Compose Design Advocate). If you cite specific page numbers, make
sure to use MLA.
3. For each of
the two concepts selected, you will explain how you have applied them to at least two of your projects, which
if needed, will be revised to make those concepts work better. You
will need three examples per concept. For your essays, paste the paragraph
or sentence you want to highlight into the slide. For your websites and video you can either use screenshots
or leave the presentation to visit the part of your website or video you want
to discuss.
